I received the following email from Voxengo a few days ago:
October 7, 2024: Dear Voxengo customers,
With a regret, Voxengo has to suspend international sales for an undefined period of time, starting October 15th, 2024. 2Checkout, Inc., a payment company I was doing business with since 2006, has scheduled cancellation of the contract, most probably due to recent US sanctions targeting Russian IT sector.
Unfortunately, all payment processing companies similar to 2Checkout are not accepting Russian businesses already since 2022. But I will be looking for a solution to this situation. Sales in rubles, to customers having Russian bank cards, will continue without interruption.
Kind regards,
Aleksey Vaneev at Voxengo
I think it’s unfortunate that the war and the sanctions have to affect a business like Voxengo.
That’s it.
I agree with you @pragi It’s a tough situation. I’m not inviting a political discussion, but I will make a statement as you have brought the topic up. I find Putin and his unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation immoral and there is an imperative for countries and businesses to take actions in response to Putin’s actions in an effort to attempt to deter further hostile actions against Ukraine. Economic sanctions have proven to be an important tool in dealing with hostile nations. The sad reality of that is that in nations like Russia, where the leader is a dictator, the people and small businesses have no voice in government positions, so they suffer. Not like the people of Ukraine suffer, of course, but they still suffer due to the actions of their government.
There are a number of Russian plugin and sample developers. I know I’ve bought some libraries from Splash Sounds out of Russia years ago, and found the developer to be a nice person. I’m sorry to see their businesses penalized for the acts of Putin they have no control or influence in. My hope is that the war ends very soon and our friends in Ukraine can live in peace and not constantly worry for their lives; and our friends in Russia can return to life as normal too — hopefully without having to live under a dictatorship.
Your friend who keeps the beat.
It’s a bad situation to be sure.

Why hasn’t this thread been locked Peter?!?!
oh wait, this is bot the CW forum, har har.
I had clown for breakfast this morning, sorry X)
I realize that you were only joking, but, I have yet to lock a thread. I have yet to do a permanent ban on anyone.
I really think our entire group is actually really level headed, decent, easy to get along with people. I realize that we come from all over the world, have different experiences and like any people, we may have very different opinions on various things, but at the end of the day, it’s simply a really nice group of people who love making music who also care about treating others well.
Now this is the week we open to public registration, and we’re going to see more folks from outside of our little Cakewalk Forum background join. Not all of them are going to be as well behaved, I’m sure.
But just know that as part of the original group – the Early Adopters Group – how I feel about you guys. It’s like when my son asked me if his sister was my favorite kid of my two kids.
“Son, I’ll tell you what every decent loving parent tells their kids. I don’t have favorites. I love both of you with all of my heart.”
Then I added, “But if I did have favorites, it would definitely be your sister. By a lot. It’s not even close.”
Okay, I was just kidding, and my son knew it. But I do feel like the group from Cakewalk Forum is always going to hold a special to me as this community groups. I’ll be grateful for every kind and helpful community member, but I feel a special bond to the people who followed @cclarry and me over here. (And you’re thinking, ‘Nah, don’t kid yourself, Peter, we were just following cclarry!” 😉
I’m sure there is some truth to that. But you came here anyway! 🙂

When my kids were young they of course went through that phase where they think there is a favorite kid. And at that time, jokingly, I would call all of them my favorite to laugh at the situation.
My kids are in their thirties now, but I still tell each one of them that they are my favorite regularly. And sometimes they answer that it isn’t nice for the other ones! 😛
My name is Jacques but you can call me Blacque Jacque Shellacque for short
