I’ve had a real issue with Waves since that subscription thing, but they do seem to be developing some interesting things these days.  I figure Sonible will have their own version of this out fairly soon, but I still may have to consider a demo from waves.

Waves hype video, where they take the plugin in front of some well known mixers / producers — Stu White (Beyoncé), CLA (Bruce Springsteen), Focus… (Anderson .Paak), JJP (John Mayer), Suzy Shinn (Dua Lipa) and Johnny Goldstein (David Guetta).

I admit, I want this even though I don’t love waves. I can’t deny that these guys make some excellent plugins. I just don’t like their marketing practices, specifically when it comes to WUP / licensing. But their plugins are certainly top notch. My favorite part of the screenshot you see below is CLA’s facial expression! Hahaha.

Wait, Ed. Is Wuppers a thing or did you just come up with that now? And if you just came up with it now, I think it will be a thing in the near future.

My gosh, as much as I criticize Wave’s WUP practices, I have bought several Waves plugins over the last 12 months, so I suppose that I am a Wupper (or should it be WUPer?) It’s only a matter of time before @Fleer starts calling us that!

I bought Sonible’s flagship EQ — I also have Izotope stuff — but this EQ peaks my interest. I am going to demo it (maybe this weekend), and if it works as well as they claim, at $39.56, I’ll buy it.

That’s a lot of shade on the WUPer community. I just want to state for the record, that I am not proud of my desire to purchase another Waves plugin. I support your anti-WUP sentiments, however, when they make something like this and I can pick it up for around 40 bucks, it’s hard to resist. Now, if Sonible offered the same thing for $79 on sale, I’d prefer to by from them. But Waves is first with this approach. I’m sure it won’t be long before other plugin makers are doing something similar.

And yet there’s aslo a part of me saying, “Please, let another plugin developer that doesn’t have the equivalent of WUP step in right now and stop me from buying this!!!” I fully accept Fleer’s mockery. I completely deserve it. And I will feel a certain level of shame — deservedly — as I press the button. Does this mean I can’t still mock WUP in the future? 😉
