      https://www.waves.com/plugins/studioverse-audio-effects

      For quite some time Waves has offered StudioRack for free. The latest version is called StudioVerse

      It is a plugin container, and its most advertised feature are the Plugin chains (the ability to create and configure a group of plugins and save it for re-use in multiple projects). Personally I didn’t use plugin chains much, and even though I had StudioRack I rarely used it.

      Why am I posting about it then? Because I just found out that it also has multi-band and Mid/Side processing meaning that, if you own a plugin without multi-band or m/s capabilities you can easily add them. Being able to turn any vst3 plugin – including third-party, not just waves – into a 5-band chain with control over crossover frequencies makes StudioVerse potentially quite more useful (and similarly for mid/side processing)

      Also, in recent versions, plugin chains can be publicly shared, and you can easily access those created by other people (assuming you have licenses for the plugins in the chain)

      The one caveat I’ve found is how Waves handles WUP for it. By default, when you get a WUP quote for your account, Waves will assign a non-zero cost to StudioRack/Studioverse but, you can uncheck it from your WUP qupte and just get the latest version for free

        @peter

        Thanks for the insights, @eusebiorz! Those are some very useful tips and the WUP tip is a nice bonus.

        I’m always hesitant to press update in Waves Central as I’m concerned that it may result in my having to pay WUP on everything I own, offer up my first born male child to a life of servitude to Waves, etc. So tips like these are really helpful for those of us who own Waves stuff. I realize just writing that is controversial! Yes, my name is Peter, and I own Waves plugins. I even bought a few this week, but I do try to limit it and always go for alternatives whenever possible, but I do love the Abbey Road plugins and I demoed Waves Harmony, which is all over my cover of Imagine that I just shared. I’m sure I’ll be sick of Harmony by the time WUP kicks in anyhow!

        Check out my music.

          @eusebiorz

          I’ll go next… My name is Eusebio and I have have been buying Waves plugins, bundles and upgrades for a long time until I got to full Mercury, Abbey Road and more

          AA references aside, Waves makes some plugins that I just use over and over again: Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter, Puigchild, CLA Guitars and CLA Bass, CLA Nx, Manny Marroquin Reverb, the Greg Wells series, NS1 (yes, I know that confessing to using “one knob” plugins doesn’t sound good but it has proven useful many times)

          You can click Update and just patch your current version but, they have the similarly named “Update to v15” that will do what you don’t want. It is annoying, always having to think and be careful about not clicking the wrong one

            @fretman

            I use Waves IR-L reverb due to the over 2000 sampled spaces it has, but always use the Ryman Auditorium for my acoustic work. I haven’t found any other IR’s for that space.

            Studio One, Windows, RME UFX, Yamaha MSP7
