V16 is here with smarter dynamics and streamlined control. At the top of the list: Auto Makeup Gain, now built into five of Waves’ most iconic compressors. No more loudness jumps, just smooth transitions and consistent levels that keep your perspective locked in.

What’s new in V16 (comments in parentheses are mine):
Auto Makeup Gain added to popular compressors (about time)
COSMOS now with DAW sync, sample auditioning & more
GUI corner stretch resizing for all Waves plugins (been waiting for this)
New plugin designs for MaxxBass, IR-Live, and the V-Series (I use IR-Live in every project)
Full compatibility with the latest OS & DAW versions (I’m on Windows so I’ve bever had a problem with this)

Studio One, Windows, RME UFX, Yamaha MSP7

Such passion with Waves! Hahaha. “Can you feel the love tonight?” Well, right now, not so much!

As for me, I would only pay to update a handful of my probably 3 dozen Waves plugins (all of my Abbey Road ones) if they stopped working or added some really compelling new features.

Yeah, not paying twice. If the plugins stop working at some point, then shame on me for being stupid and buying them in the first place.

I recall the pro-WUP guy — contrarian — at another forum. The guy was argued that WUP gets you a “free second license” so that you can install your plugin on an additional device.

Um — free? That second license lasts for one year, and then you have to purchase another year of WUP to keep getting the “free second license.” Sometimes free is not always so free. Next time you see a buy one get one free sale, tell the shop owner you only want the free one, not the paid one.
