Brian replied to the topic 🆕 Celemony Music Introduces Tonalic — "A musician by your side" in the forum Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals
I wasn’t gonna look at this because of the subscription, and then I found a (apparently) perpetual license for an “Essential” version in my Fender Studio Pro third party list, so I will at least give it a look. Tonalics web site says “Essential” is included with Melodyne, so I expect owners will get something about it from Celemony soon, unless…Read More

Only had it for a day- Upgraded from 7 that “expired” Dec 21. IMHO I guess it is the ever present debate any time ANY DAW releases a “major” ($) rather than “point” (free) update. For ME I guess I think it sh…Read More

Brian replied to the topic Mario Nieto Releases NovaGrid in the forum Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals
Thanks for doing that @Jorge! I have numerous plugs that can do MSEG, but are pretty complex. I like Mario’s work and bought it to support his continuing projects. Now that I am home I can install it and give it some play. Just getting Fender Studio Pro 8 installed first. Discovery time 🙂

I always look forward to seeing what new MIDI controllers premiere. Particularly if they are “Off the beaten path” of keys/pads/knobs/sliders.  I remain ever hopeful to see the debut of the magic hat I can don that converts my thoughts to MIDI signals.

Four lane FX sequencer. Mario is the dev behind “Harmony Bloom”. There are a lot of plugs that do similar, but this looks pretty friendly for a fair price. I am away from my “studio” so won’t get to play with this for a few days. Mario’s email went out with a 30% discount code to su…Read More

Answering my own question re: licensing- I logged in and my cost to upgrade is $99. My Studio one 7 upgrade was purchased over a year ago, so it was in “perpetual mode”. Looks like the same formula as before. Updates for one year, and perpetual license after that. Very interesting that they appear to completely dropping the Presonus bra…Read More

Well- I should not be surprised, but it gives me pause. As a Studio One user since V3 it seems like they are throwing away some market familiarity among current DAW users. Wonder if there is any change to price and licensing model?

Brian replied to the topic arturia upgrade price now $299!! in the forum Virtual Gear: Software, Sample Libraries, Instrument Plugins
Something is wonky with their prices, unless they really ramped them up. I got an email promo with that $299 price but I already bought the 11 upgrade from 10 for $149 in May. IIRC single step upgrades have gone on sale for around $150, and they drop that price if you bought any new singles between the collection releases.

Brian started the topic A couple for the Grandkids in the forum Share Your Music
Here are a couple of folk oldies that are part of the tracks I am making for my Grandkids to hear on their “Yoto” MP3 players. I am cranking these out to (eventually) make 100 tracks, so they are a little rough. The Yoto is a mono device, so little attention is given to stereo mixing. I do the vocals, play guitar (Godin Multiac Mundial using du…Read More

I don’t really “do” New Year resolutions, but I have a “goal”. Two of my grandkids received “Yoto” MP3 players. It’s a kid friendly device that uses RFID embedded cards to pull playlists down from the web. I gave them a pack of user customizable cards on Christmas, of which one is labeled “Grandpa”. Each card “holds” up to 100 tracks or 5 ho…Read More

They have released the Windows version of Wingman. 30 day refund available, which I may take advantage of. I only spent a brief time with it, but I am disappointed that so far, it appears that you have to let it analyze a complete mix. I thought it would be easier to drop in instrument stems and not depend on the AI to categorize it co…Read More

Guitar is my main instrument, so my piano impressions are gonna be worth… less? If you have any of the UJAM pianos, it has the five “Character” choices on the performance page, which I assume are the available sample sets. You need to mute the Finisher effects to hear them “raw”.
