joegyork replied to the topic 🆓 🔥 Musio Introduces a FREE Version w/35 FREE Instruments! in the forum Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals
Yep I’m looking forward to giving them a try when I have the chance – also just downloaded the Splice Instrument (assuming it won’t take over my old LABS installation – I never went for LABS +). Not sure it is a good development for Spitfire
joegyork replied to the topic 🆓 🔥 Musio Introduces a FREE Version w/35 FREE Instruments! in the forum Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals
I’ve just looked at that and was confused – as you say only 7 free instruments appear to be mentioned rather than 35!
(Sorry I haven’t been responding / posting much recently – been busy since our last holiday! I do look through the activity section every day though!)

Worth checking Epic every Thursday when their new free games are released. They have been a bit disappointing recently but in the past I’ve got some very good ones from them

This looks like a biggie! I rarely get the chance to play all the games I get from Epic’s free offers but this might be worth a look!

joegyork replied to the topic THe GURDY – Hurdy Gurdy Wheel Fiddle 50% Off – Plus 10% Off Code in the forum Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals
I can’t remember which developer produced the Hurdy Gurdy VST that I used to use on my old PC – it was a lite version so only had a very limited range of notes – but that worked to my advantage when the note for the tune I had written was too high for the lite version and it missed it out – it actually gave it a lovely syncopated feel which so…Read More

I’m a huge fan. One of my favourite folk bands Blowzabella heavily feature it. This video was filmed at a festival we regularly attended before we gave up on camping!

Has anyone let gear go and come to regret it – like the people in this article from Production Expert?
My biggest regret was letting someone have my WASP synth & Spyder sequencer. They weren’t working but I wish I had got them repaired as they are being sold for prices between £600 and £1400 n…Read More4 CommentsMy first “stage amp” (my Dad and I built a small Heathkit for my $29 Tiesco first guitar 🙂 was a 1965 Fender Twin Reverb and I still have it. BUT I blew the speakers (somehow) and instead of having the Jensens re-built (like my Dad advised), I bought el-cheapo nameless replacements (hey, they’re rated at 200W- what else matters?) and tossed the…Read More
Just like the guy in the article, I had a Roland Juno 60 that I got new in 1984 (was actually my first polysynth that I ever owned!). Sometime in the late 1990s, while it was still in great working condition, I let it go for a steal! I was diving headlong into digital stuff , and figured it was headed toward the ash heap. Bad call there.…Read More
joegyork replied to the topic Bandlab Raises Price of Cakewalk Sonar Subscription to $179 Per Year in the forum Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals
It’s all deeply disappointing after the positive early days of Bandlab rescuing the software. To not consider the needs of disabled users in the 21st century is shocking! I’d read about the removal of workspace access on the Creative Sauce Cakewalk Facebook forum and I was shocked. I am hoping it is a mistake! They didn’t mention that in the release notes!

Despite me being an atheist my second favourite quote is by Sibelius “Music is, for me, like a beautiful mosaic which God has put together. He takes all the pieces in his hand, throws them into the world, and we have to recreate the picture from the pieces.”

To keep the ball rolling – not a meme but my favourite musical quote – Vaughan Williams said about his very different & spiky 4th Symphony ””I don’t know whether I like it, but it’s what I meant!”
I love it!

Thanks Peter – I should clarify I didn’t buy the 3 Duduks instrument just listened to the demo. It was ok but I think even Troels admitted that it capture the heart of the instrument whilst Duduk Virtuoso definitely does. I’ll hang off for a while and see if any deal appears in due course 🙂
joegyork started the topic Soundpaint Duduk – gorgeous in the forum Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals
Not specifically a deal but a wonderful sounding instrument. I was a bit disappointed with their previous 3 Duduks release but this is astonishing and is tempting me very much. The duduk is my very favourite instrument. $50 – haven’t checked the £ price yet
joegyork replied to the topic Brand Sentiment Analysis Cakewalk, Sonar and Next in the forum Sentiment Analysis of Users From Forums & Social Media Sites
Interesting – thanks Peter – I must admit I won’t even consider Sonar until they put out a perpetual license – that seems to be increasingly unlikely. I’m sticking with Cakewalk until it breaks! I can’t justify a monthly sub or a high purchase price for a perpetual licence and would likely look for cheaper options

The first drum kit I ever had, which I bought at around age 7, was a Camco. It was a white pearl kit. It sounded great, but I wanted something that looked cooler. So maybe when I was 12 or so, I was persuaded by a guy at the local music store that this cool-looking blue kit — a garbage low end kit made in Taiwan called Royce — for around $400 was…Read More
