December 18, 2025 at 5:52 pm in reply to: Toontrack Daily Deals Thread – New Deals Mon – Fri – Last 24 Hrs #1000040862
I was really hoping for a EZX for $29 that appealed to me, but I have yet to see one. Hopefully, they do something great for the finale tomorrow.
As far as comparing Toontrack’s basses to Orange Tree Samples’ basses, Orange Tree Samples is really in a whole different league of sampled instruments. Orange Tree Samples instruments are actually hybrids of sampling and physical modeling. On a sample library level, they have vastly more detail than Toontrack’s libraries.
We also need to keep in mind that Toontrack’s EZ lines are targeted at a different kind of user than Orange Tree Samples. Orange Tree Samples targets musicians who want to perform or program their parts, whereas Toontrack, like UJAM, targets users who want pre-made MIDI parts. So, there’s a lot more focus on that aspect of Toontrack and UJAM sampled instruments.

Cool and interesting. I learnt something new today.
I picked up the EZB 60s midi. Just because I am teaching myself bass and I find EZB great as an educational tool. Much cheaper than paying a teacher.

I never gelled with padshop. plus steinberg kind of got my mad with the way they handled the evolution of that product. first it was padshop and then they charged to upgrade to padshop pro. then they phased out padshop pro and turned it into padshop 2 and took away my licenses for pro without clearly explaining why. and then they have this free halion x-stream product which seems to resemble padshop now. very odd stuff.

Yup. same here. 0 so far.
I have to say, I sort of liked that last IKM group buy. I jumped in early with something cheap and then would keep getting my GAS fix by picking up a freebie every week and playing around with it on weekends. This prevented me from buying other stuff and I was always looking forward to tinkering with the new freebies.

My goto are:
- kontakt and the drums in there. abbey road, butch vig e.t.c.
- usually IK amplitube and ToneX are in my projest always.

All it really means is, of the 11 free items that you do get, you don’t need to select those free signature packs that you chose for free. From what I can see, if you get ToneX SE, its listed as $99 values, so you can pick 11 other items that are $99 or less.
Umm, no. The business of the free signature packs that you get if you buy ToneX SE is part of the Group Buy announcement.
Scroll down to the Tonex section and you will see the exact wording above.
As far as I can tell, Tonex SE itself does not contain any of the TONEX Signature Collections.
This would be a clever signature if I could think of one.
no. what i meant was, i dont know how the claiming of those free packs works. i have seen it discussed nowhere else. so far all the items i got i so far i just click in the promotions lick it shows up as a drop down item. so i am guessing thats also where you go to claim your free signature packs for SE if you buy SE.

I think the second statement was meant to say that if you already own Tonex, you can buy a signature collection to get into the group buy and get two more for free with more to follow.
It was pretty badly worded and confusing as heck.
This would be a clever signature if I could think of one.
its pretty straight forward. you buy something that is at least $49 or more, and you get 11 items of equal or less value for free. this business of the free signature packs that you get if you buy ToneX SE is something that was added in this thread. All it really means is, of the 11 free items that you do get, you don’t need to select those free signature packs that you chose for free. ”TONEX
The Group Buy is a great time to start or grow your TONEX Tone Model library. Choose TONEX SE and instantly get 2 Signature Collections free, with more likely to follow. If you already own a version of TONEX, go directly to the collections you want, including the new Brown Sound collections.”I guess it means if you buy SE,

you will be able to pick 2 of the collections IKM make.

though I don’t see it on their site.
FWIW, i picked up all the remaining TX collections I dont have in this group buy.

any luck with my other post asking about offering rest of Mojo to older ST4 users who already have some of Mojo in their account? It just doesn’t make sense that The Grid for SampleTank 3 is still being offered but Mojo has been taken down forever.
I am in this Group Buy, and am out of things to pick. So I am now looking at picking pianos that are 22gb+ in size each which I will never ever use. It would be great if I was able to get stuff I don’t have that I know I will use. I just don’t get it. What happened? Does Eric N. own the rights to Mojo and you got into a fight with him?

It seems these are all sort of related to Plugin Boutique — so why doesn’t IKM just go ahead and put on their page, plugin boutique purchases and serials don’t count towards this group buy? Make it plain and simple for everyone.

Amp Sims: Amplitube, AmpRoom, S-Gear, StarkSeptember 15, 2025 at 8:11 am in reply to: What was responsible for you deciding to learn a musical instrument? #1000034643i was enrolled in piano and trumpet lessons as a kid in elementary school. i hated it and i got kicked out of the school and high school band too for sucking so bad.
A Prince video inspired me to learn music. I bought an electric guitar when i was 15 and started learning to play it on my own. i had no idea what i was doing. My uncle gave me a few chord lessons and taught me how to tune it. Then i just kept plucking away at it and listening to albums and learning parts. It wasn’t until i was in my 20s when i started to join bands did i get any good at it while learning how to play with people. There is a certain art to learning how to play with people and understand where they are coming from musically and what sort of thing do they envision coming out of you when you play with them. It took a lot of years to learn and figure that out. Everyone has their own favorite music and albums that inspires them and everyone thinks their taste in music and their record collection is the best and greatest in the world. You come across all sorts of really weird people and weird tastes in music. The only way to communicate with them is to have listened to and heard a lot of different types of music and artists and albums and sort of get an idea of how that music and those records work and what you can sort of do to be able to offer something usable on the table that is of interest. Even when that music is stuff you never got into or listened to. That’s why its important to have a good foundation of chords and rhythm and to have listened to a lot of different albums. my son took over some of my guitars and is teaching himself from watching youtube videos. e drives me nuts because he keeps watching these indie guys making up their own tunings and doing fancy stuff that looks cool on video. I keep telling him, dude, you need to know what key and what chords you are playing. this kind of stuff will only work if you keep playing on your own in your room. Once you get into a room full of other people who all have their own tastes in music and their own sensibilities and egos — its all just gonna fall apart and sound like mush.

But for those of us that got sucked into their marketing for the “lifetime” (at $499) have NEVER seen anything more from them.
“Lifetime grants a perpetual license for all instruments and collections released this year (including the ones listed on our Coming Soon roadmap for 2023), with future upgrades available starting in 2024 when we eventually roll more new additions into this package (and it becomes Musio 2, then Musio 3, etc).”
Two plus years in and NOTHING new. So yea, I honestly have to agree with Mike and am not optimistic about their future. In addition to the CEO stepping down… then coming back over a year later.. and still very little communication.
[MODERATOR NOTE; I’ve edited down my comment, which can be seen above. – Peter]
Interesting stuff. Yeah, I don’t know much about any of this stuff. I did buy into some of the 8Dio samples at one point. I am a drum addict and picked up all their drums for $5 a piece. Fine products. I wish they updated it for K7 and K8.I haven’t really invested into them ever since SoundPaint. It has nothing to do with their products or them, but more to do with that I have a better idea of what sorts of products I will wind up using and only buy those when they go on sale.

But what I am more concerned about is what is happening to UAD. Are they going out of business or just changing business strategy. I have never seen sales likes these before from them.
Overall, it appears that UAD is adapting to the price disruption that occurred in the marketplace. Of course, they had layoffs in 2023 (10 employees were let go and it appears they have around 400 employees). But they had a strong financial performance in 2024 with revenue growth around 8% and adjusted EBITDA growth of 14%. In 2025, they’ve been adding new hires, adding new products, and software updates.
Granted, there has been criticism that the company isn’t as innovative as they once were, that a lot of their new products ar repackaging of old ones or slight variations, but the company appears to be doing well from as much as you can discern from a non-public medium-sized company. This deal looks a lot like it’s intended for owners of specific products, so it’s more of a glitch sale and I suspect that they’ll soon catch it.

For me, looking at it from a purely product perspective, I will get more use from the products in the UAD bundle sale than Cinesamples. I dont really make film music.
