The other day, a good friend of mine texted me and told me he had an extra ticket available to a concert to see a few 90s rockers, STP, Live and Soul Asylum. I haven’t gotten out much lately, so I leapt at the chance to hang out with a great guy and hear a bunch of old rockers from the era I was playing.
My friend told me that he and his wife originally planned this as date night, but his mother in law got sick so his wife was taking care of her. He actually called it date night probably three times to the point where I said, “Now, I just want to do some expectation settings, because I here ya. You keep referring to this as date night and I think I need to set some boundaries. Date night is something you do with your wife. Hanging out, catching some music is what you do with your friend, Peter. Agree? Besides, you didn’t buy dinner, so keep those expectations low.” Yes, it got a head shake.
But while I was at the show while the band Live was playing, I realized, how that band pushed the envelope lyrically. In a word of rock lyric cliches, Live stands out as the only band I know of to reference a placenta in a song. Kudos to them, they have traveled into new territory. Just imagine what kind of new frontiers are possible for them.

The lead singer (Ed?) had introduced a song he wrote about York — and I do love the York Peppermint Patty, which I learned from him is made in the town, or at least the company was founded there — although the lyrics for that song were pretty much Spinal Tap territory. I take it the song isn’t very appreciated there. I suppose I could name the song and test the swear filter, but I’ll let someone else take that job on.

York Peppermint Patties were made in York, until Peter Paul, and then Hershey bought them. As a kid I used to walk to the factory from my grandmother’s house and buy factory seconds. Still love them.
And yea I recall “Sh-t Towne”, I will say York has come a long way since then, but the eighties it was going downhill.
The older Strand and Capital theaters were renovated and brought back to their earlier glory and now are lovely places to see live shows (and movies) https://appellcenter.org
