Forums › ALL THINGS MUSIC › 3 acts I discovered ‘recently’
As much as I like to share my own (electronic) music, here are 3 (non-elecctronic) acts I discovered recently that blew my mind:
1 Maphra
I consider myself to be lucky to be amongst the first “in the know”. When her cover of Bring me the horizon – Doomed was ‘just’ at a couple hundred thousand views instead the 20+ million it is at now. She does covers. But no, she owns the songs she covers. That’s rare. Even more rare is her vocal talent. She has an incredibly lovely low voice for a female and the switches between cleans and screams are #1 in the world. And then she dropped her cover of The Plot In You – Silence. OMG.
Angine the Poitrine
The Microtonal fenomenon from Canada? That bass guy on Youtube did some really good videos about them, but this is unheard of. They created the physical guitar themselves (well they commisioned someone knowledgeable to make it), they don’t do 4/4 (it’s forbidden I guess). It’s weir but i’t great.
And the third is Blackshape.
Somehow the almight Youtube algorythm served me up a female vocal version of their song ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL (great title, and I’m serious, that made me click on it). Listened to their live version and apparently the singer is male. This was on par or even better (I’m a sucker for female vocals). So I went to their youtube channel and found this 10 minute masterpiece:
Wow!
