I have hit the Cakewalk forums again a couple of days ago again the only way I could, with an advertisement type thing as my Signature, as my posts had to be approved, AGAIN, I’d say by now I would have my 3rd banning, and my signature removed from my posts, I can’t check as I had to use ‘tor’ browser to even sign up again and was put on the pre-approval thing before I even had posted, they probably don’t like people using ‘tor’, I certainly don’t like using it, it was a b**ch of a thing.

So third round of pre-approval being required, 2nd banning and most likely 3rd, that’s it for me at the Cakewalk Forum, my job is done 😉

Sorry for the negative, but the way the Deals forum has been split up sucks big time. If it was me, I would put it back like it was.

Things changing all the time sucks. I understand you are trying to find the sweet spot, but in my opinion the sweet spot was found as far as the Deals forum goes before it was split up, and most likely not just the Deals forum at the same time.

I’m suffering from the side effects of pain relief medication including Morphine patches. I can’t type much, it’s hard, involuntary movements in my hands and fingers, can’t read big blocks of text, I just give up and hope for a swift death, anyway, I’m F**ked.

Those 3 packs (Slash, Angus and the JCM 900) are mighty fine. Overloud seems to be continually raising the quality of their RIG Libraries, those plus SuperCabinet make a formidable team.

I just grabbed the above 3 Libraries, don’t know if they are good enough to drag me away from TONEX for long, or at all, but definitely good to have in the lineup. ‘thumbs up icon goes here’

I purchased Microsoft Office back a bit from/with Groupon, all went good, download from Microsoft, according to Microsoft the Serial number was legit. Over a year now and still going. I wouldn’t have purchased it if it wasn’t cheap, I only wanted/needed it to open a couple of file types. I could have achieved that via free apps, but as with music software, plugins etc I don’t do free stuff, unless maybe it’s like for example some well known commercial company putting out a free, full version of their commercial software, otherwise it’s an ixnay from me.

Anyway, I had 1 dealing with Groupon, everything went fine, so from my personal experience their batting average is pretty good.

It fits in with Studio One like a hand in a glove. $39.99 until November 1.

I did look at this @jih64 — isn’t this a cheaper deal than I’ve seen for upgrading my Studio One Pro 3? I think the best deal I saw for that was $149, sent to me by @bapu. It’s weird that they would offer a better deal to people with the less expensive version than people who bought their flagship product. Do I have that right or am I missing something?

No, you are not missing anything I don’t think, with the release of v7 everyone is going to be put on the same level, there will be no more Artist, only ‘Pro’. I’d grab it if I were you, a free ticket to v7 to boot, you couldn’t let that slide.

If you have contact with Starship Krupa/Superabbit/Erik, give him a nudge, I think he might be interested in looking into it especially with what the lad said up a bit that it also works with cross grade.

I’ve been on Pro since v3 and done every upgrade since, I don’t feel hard done by in the least. I think it’s a great thing that everyone is getting leveled up to Pro going forward.

Briefly, this page shows the 3 options, the first 2 you get a perpetual license, the ist one IS a Perpetual License, the 2nd one after 12 months/1 year(You may not even need to wait 1 year) you get a Perpetual License but feature wise it remains frozen in the state when your 12 months/1 year ended. The 3rd is the only one which is out and out Subscription.

I’m only interested in the Perpetual License, so I may not be 100% sure as to how the other 2 operate, but I think I am close, but I have no desire to check into it past what I have read and vaguely understood :), so for someone who is interested in option 2 or 3 it would be best for them to check in with Support or do some research so as they are sure of what they are getting in to 🙂

It’s not much different if at all to what Cakewalk had back in the Platinum days. (The second option)

I have no issue with it, I’ll take the Perpetual License and if I choose to let upgrading again go for a year or 2 due to not seeing any things of interest to me I will/can, but I won’t, I’ll upgrade every year regardless, and I doubt there will come a year where there is nothing of interest/use to me, be it new features or fixes.

There is a lot of choices one can make with this new fandango, kind of roll your own all most.

These must be good because I’ve got 1 & 2 can’t say I recall ever installing them, and a quick check says I didn’t, I think there is insta Scales 1 & 2 as well don’t know if they are any good or not and likely never will, but the4 Composer set must have left some sort of positive impression on me from the marketing, but obviously not enough to push me to install.

Well, when my 3 days Free Trial ended there was enough time for me to take advantage or disadvantage 😉 of this ‘25% off‘ for the ‘Yearly Membership‘. The download, install, and authorization went smoothly, although I had to install ‘Platinum‘ to install the extra plugins etc, you’d think they would have developed a way around that by now, with either the ‘Command Center‘ or as it’s called today the ‘Product Center‘ and just have it connect to your account with the ability to download, install, and authorize all the products in your account and have it do it without the need for ‘SONAR Platinum‘,’ X3e‘, or whatever installed. But it is what it is.

It didn’t take long for me to overcome the issues I expressed above and for the memory to slowly start to come back. I want to do a couple of tests, nothing ‘scientific‘, just what I call ‘real world‘ tests. All I do is start loading Sonar up with tracks and instruments, and not just slamming anything on, have it as I would have it if doing a project. Then have Studio One the same, or as close as can be possible, same plugins, same settings, BFD3 same kit, Trilian, same model bass and settings. Now I either need to add something extra on Sonar to compensate for the instances of MixFX I use in Studio One or not compensate and leave Studio One disadvantaged from the start, which is what I usually do when comparing because I don’t know what or how much to add to make it even. Yeah I know I could just disable MixFX all together and solve the problem, but I must have Studio One as it is when it’s being used. Anyway, after that I just start doubling up tracks and or Instrument tracks as needed until one or the other starts to spit and cough, then take it a little bit more until the other starts to spit and cough and then just back it off a little. I’m not interested in bringing therm or the PC to the ground. It’s just for my own curiosity, I do it every couple of years. Yes, it is not very scientific, and yes it may have faults etc, but for me it’s a good enough ‘real world‘ test.

Yes I read a lot of positive comments on that latest release and only a handful of negatives. By some of the performance figures being thrown around it does seem to be fairly significant. The features I read about also were nothing to snort at. I started of a 3day trail back a bit but that didn’t last long, maybe 6 hours or so. I installed it on this laptop, which is my internet machine, I don’t know how people can use a laptop for DAW’s, I then put it on one of my Desktop DAW’s, I don’t know, I still kind of felt closed in, suffocating, like when you add plugin’s to a track, even though the FX bin expands, it just feels closed in, I had a lot of dislikes with simple things like that. I don’t remember it being like that in SONAR Platinum.

It seemed it was just so much faster to achieve the simplest of things in Studio One, yes, I haven’t used Sonar since this time in 2015, but I had user SONAR/Cakewalk since Pro Audio 9 until that time. I would like to check it out again on the Desktop, but it just feels like I would be wasting time, I don’t know, it’s just curiosity of the latest release, no intention or desire of leaving Studio One.
