My favorite thing about this site is the people, by far. Plus being able to comment on both positive and negative aspect of products/things without it ever becoming hostile at any point.
I also scour the deals pages, even though I’m on a plugin buying hiatus. All the best.

2: The plugin that has over delivered the most IMO is the free Softube Saturation Knob. I use it on almost every project.

I got one of those offers that was something like pick 5 for $49 and got an extra 10% off at Audio Deluxe. I loved the presets. But once I started actually using a couple of them for songs, I found them so filled with little noises that they were unusable. I don’t buy the rationale either — like it’s some kind of charm. It’s not charm when one of three times you hit an Ab you get some odd little creaky noise again and again. It doesn’t sound cool, it sounds like there was a problem with the piano you played or the recording quality. Late last year I picked up all of the UJAM Virtual Pianos (that was before they released the Wurly library, which I demoed and didn’t find it captured the Wurly’s dynamics at a level I’ve come to demand out of Wurly libraries).
Now, I also picked up Universal Audio’s Ravel piano. I think it’s far more usable than, say the UJAM Score, a grand piano, and its undesirable noises or the UJAM Relic — an upright with tone that I love but it too has these annoying noises embedded in some of the piano notes that play over and over when you hit certain keys. I really don’t know how the person who did the samples or the person who approved them let that pass. If they were going to record little creaks, why not record them separately and overlay those samples with the piano samples? Anyhow, I originally only post about those libraries right after I picked them up and spent very little time with them.
The sample libraries — well plugins — that I picked up late last year that I absolutely love are Pianoverse MAX. Those are absolutely gorgeous and are up there with Noire, Rosewood Grand, Walker 1955 Concert D, and some of the 8Dio pianos. I love them. But I love the tone of UJAM Relic and the presets and am really disappointed about the noises, because I would otherwise use it. I don’t love the tone of Score as much. It’s very nice, but more standard. But like Relic, it has great presets. Once again though, I’m not going to use a piano that has annoying noises every time or every other time I hit a certain key.
Has anyone else found this to be the case with the UJAM Virtual Pianos? Great presets, but the little creaks and noises baked into individual note samples kills the usability of the library.
The official LinkedMusicians account
I have seen this in an UJAM piano (can’t remember which), and got rid of some of the noise using Pro Q4 and it’s spectral mode on a couple of frequencies. That and/or Soothe..
Hope it helps.All the best.

@zargg I just listened to the new song and thought you guys did a great job! I urge everyone to check it out! These guys play and sing at a very high level and recently earned praise from Warren Huart.

1Hi. I am working on vocals for a new Citizen Regen song (with Ed/Bapu). When finished with those, I’ll record some acoustic guitars for the song.
I’m also working on a couple of my own songs, one of them being the heaviest song I’ve ever made (at 54 yrs of age). I’m even playing drums on those 2 songs, which the 1st time I’ve done on my own songs.

2October 2, 2025 at 6:34 am in reply to: What’s On Your Black Friday Wish List This Year? #1000035610I’ll start off with a boring one.
I don’t have a wishlist this year. I got a TONEX pedal and Total Studio Max 5 (on sale) earlier this year, plus upgraded to Soundtoys 5 from the Effect Rack (also on sale) so that was my money spent for the rest of the year.I don’t feel like I’m missing anything either.
All the best.
I actually don’t have a Black Friday Wish List either, but I have in past years. So what I’m doing and planning on doing is to just snap up the free stuff and the ridiculously cheap stuff, like the $1 deal from Plugin Boutique for the USYNTH and UVI ReLayer that was posted yesterday. ReLayer seems excellent (@lamia6 and I regularly PM each other and she was sharing how she’s using ReLayer and loves it, so I’m eager to play around with it soon).
@zargg, have you snapped up the free UAD guitar amp, the Safari Pedals effect, and a couple of others that have been posted in the past couple of days? This is top notch stuff, not low end junk or even lite versions (although those are being released too). Are you, like me, watching for more of those deals and for more freebies to come out? I’m confident there’s more on the way as developers and retailers are fighting for our attention and our dollars.LinkedMusicians Founder. Your friend who keeps the beat.

I have indeed picked up those freebies Peter, and will continue to look for more deals with those prices 😉

2October 1, 2025 at 12:49 pm in reply to: Just did a test project in Studio One Artist v6 with the FaderPort 16 #1000035566Hi. I’ve been using my FP 16 since 2020 with Studio One 5,6 and 7 Pro.
I love the workflow, and I have the user buttons programmed to make loop selection, buses and FX channels. I use it for automations (volume, pan, plugins), but I would trade it (if I was forced) for my Console 1 (mkI).
But together, they make me feel like I’m working in a studio, turning knobs and moving faders.
Adding my Stream Deck (with macros), trackball, nOb, and TC Brickwall limiter HW, and I like my workflow even better.
All the best.

1Hi. I was invited to a concert by my niece, with a locally famous (Norway) rock band called Oslo Ess.
It was a great gig, and full on sing along from the audience on most songs.
Before that it was Alestorm (pirate rock kinda thing, with 5 other bands in the same kind of style), invited by one of my nephews. Also one of the best concerts I’ve seen, as they gave it all (all of them) and turned the whole venue into a party.

But the TONEX collections does not interest me (as I capture my favorite presets from Amplitube and other amp sims into TONEX, then my TONEX pedal), so what would I then get instead?Any suggestions anyone?

1My go-to’s are Softube Saturation Knob, Spicerack by Process Audio, Soundtoys Decapitator and IK Saturation-X. To add: I also often use the saturation available in the Console 1 channel strips (still rocking a mk I).
I have lots of others that I use on a less than regular basis.

2Thanks!
I’ve got an Ibanez 7 string myself, and I’m very pleased with it. It only the Gio version, which is the cheapest series, but I got it at a bargain 2nd hand a couple of years ago. It plays very well, even though it only has 22 frets 😉

3It was just a small outdoor gig, and we covered Snowblind by Black Sabbath.
It was good to be “on stage” again, and we got positive feedback from both people and media (newspaper).
It started raining during soundcheck, and they only had a small tent, so we had to cuddle up together.
It stopped raining before the gig started, but left it up, just in case.

4Hi. I got a TONEX pedal a month ago, and I’m very pleased with it. I found out how to capture my favorite amp sim presets from Amplitube to S-Gear when they’re in standalone mode.
I played a gig yesterday, using the TONEX pedal with my own preset.
Looking forward to testing the new Capture/Modeler.

61I forgot to unsubscribe from their email list, so got an email today with some offer.
I was still thinkin about this thread/issue with Karanyi
I ended up answering that email with this response:
After seeing how Dani Karanyi treated Jorge on the Linked Musicians site (https://linkedmusicians.com/forums/topic/karanyi-is-giving-away-10000-licenses-of-lofi-keys-to-bpb/#post-1000032874), and the customer support he didn’t get at all, I’ll never purchase from you again.
You had a chance to make things right and just disappeared leaving all, or at least most of those who saw that lack of communication in the same boat as me, never wanting to have anything with your business (model) anymore. Shame on you!
I will also tell this to all my musician friends to stay way clear of your company, as there is no honor in your way of doing business, and the total lack of customer service.

2July 25, 2025 at 2:30 pm in reply to: Softube Lowest price ever: Abbey Road Studios Brilliance Pack – $49 #1000032410I like the RS 127’s for adding bite to geetarz. They add something that a boost of a stock type eq at 2,7, or 3.5 kHz does not, IMO.
I use the green one the most , and favour that for some reason. I haven’t tried to measure differences in the 127’s.

2Had I known how this company treats its customers, I wouldn’t have purchased anything from them, or taken the freebie above.
Customer service (or any communication from the company) is important to me, and behaving like this to a customer is a no-no.
10 days since the 1 post, and no clarification from them is not a good look for them.

3October 21, 2024 at 1:26 pm in reply to: Answer these 7 Questions to Get to Know Each Other A Little Better #10000172821: Norway
2: I play geetar, bass, some drums )(practicing to get better) and keys.
I started with the snare drum in a school marching band, playing for 4 years (until 14). I didn’t touch an instrument again until I was 19, when a friend brought an acoustic guitar with him to my place. I bought my 1st acu guitar a few days later. Then an el guitar a few months after that, with a mini Marshall stack.
Upgraded the mini stack with a 1987 Jubilee Marshall 2550, with a 4×12 1960a. Been playing since.
3: I do sing. I am the vocalist in Bapu’s (and us others in the band) Citizen Regen, plus sing on my own stuff. I do stuff from growling to “normal” singing.
4: I am getting better at it, but not where I want to be. Mixes range from mediocre, to almost good, IMO.
5: I play everything from acoustic ballads, to metal. The latter is my preferred music style to write and perform/record and listen to.
6: My musical inspiration ranges from Grieg to KoRn and beyond. For vocals, my favorite might just be Jonathan Davis from KoRn. The early albums taught me that there were no rules when it came to what could come out of once mouth. I still try to play around with that idea.
7: This is a hobby for me.
I had a couple of years (early 2000) where I toured a bit in Europe (mainly Germany), making some money, so could perhaps call that semi professional.
Bonus: I wish to get the courage to release some of my music (I have done 1), for my own sake.
Other than that, continue to enjoy it, and perhaps get better at it.
All the best.
