March 21, 2025 at 1:09 pm in reply to: SynthMaster Everything Bundle by KV331 Audio $134.10 US was: $299 #1000025766
The everything bundle is a pretty good deal if you are into presets, as it includes future ones.
I bought little by little and I wish I had known about the “everything” including unreleased sound packs because that’s what I would have chosen.
I did contact them a couple of years ago, asking if they offered a deal for upgrading from “almost everything” to “actually everything”. They sent me a personalized voucher, that was supposed to take into account my already purchased products. The product was on sale at 50% off and the voucher reduced it another 50%. 75% off is generally a good discount but, considering what I already had it would have taken a lot of new presets to make it worth it. If you are interested in the presets (many of which are great, esp. the ones by Nori Ubukata), you will be much better off getting the everything bundle from the beginning.

1March 21, 2025 at 12:53 pm in reply to: Humble Bundle: Music for Dummies Software Bundle Starts at $1 US #1000025763Yes, by default only a small percentage goes to charity, but there is an option to change the percentages
Personally I usually set the Humblebundle “cut” to the minimum and split the rest between the charity and the publisher. The UI is a little annoying because of how adjusting one slider auto-adjusts the others and there is no option to “lock” one.
After tweaking the numbers, you may want to save a screenshot of how much was actually given to charity, in case at the end of the year the aggregate amounts are significant enough to report them on your taxes (Disclaimer: I am not making an assertion that this is deductible. This is not professional tax advice. Use your own judgement and/or talk to a pro. This will depend on your country/jurisdiction)

February 15, 2025 at 11:43 pm in reply to: 🆓🔥 Morphoice has released Unstable inspired by the Yamaha CS-80 FREE!!! #1000023612Too bad devs forget the best DAW is Pro Tools and they don’t make an AAX version of their plugins.
That’s quite debatable 😉
But apart from which DAW is best, Protools should’ve ditched AAX years ago and made life easier for all the developers and their customers.
It’s quite absurd to have different formats for different DAWs and them clinging to AAX. I haven’t installed any CLAP plugins yet (apart from any forced ones, where you can’t choose format), but in a perfect world I’d like to see either that, or VST become the only format.
- I prefer when a native AAX is available but, for VSTi’s I just load them through PluginGuru Unify
- While a single standard would be convenient from a User’s point of view, as a software developer I can easily imagine plenty of reasons for Avid using their own format VST (stability, API integration, versioning, licensing, running on accelerated hardware, dealing with undocumented features, dependencies, etc.), it is not absurd

2January 24, 2025 at 3:39 pm in reply to: UVI Falcon Special incl. 19 Expansions for $199 #1000022866I’m seriously thinking about getting this and selling my existing Falcon license. If I could get around $100 for it, this bundle would cost me $125 after the iLok transfer fee. I own six of the 19 expansions, so that would make it about $9.60 per expansion for the remaining 13.
Falcon licenses start at $169 on KnobCloud, so I think asking $100-$125 would be fair.
Thoughts?
The big question is how much the prices for 2nd hand Falcon licenses will drop because of this sale. In principle this sounds like a good idea, but there are risks

For whatever reason they only sent it to some of the accounts but not the primary one. With the info you posted I was able to find a few survey links
Now I’m getting a “This Survey has been deactivated by the owner.” The emails are less than a week old but I suppose they had a limited amount of vouchers. Anyway, that’s a “I snooze, I lose. My consolation is that I already have too many Soundpools (500+, lots of them from promotions, but also quite a few I have paid for). I’ll keep an eye out now on various forums and resale sites to see if someone will sell their vouchers for a good price (e.g., under $5)
Thanks again @lamia6!

Sounds good. Btw, just in case I’d like to be clear that I’m very happy with linkedmusicians.com and very thankful that you have created it. This was just an experiment with a feature of the site, and the ideas I got from it. I did not expect “knobcloud” from these early stages, that would have been completely unrealistic. I just used knobcloud for reference because I see that they’re getting many things right and are worth using as a model (better than e.g., kvr). And I completely understand that many ideas get put in the backlog, then maybe implemented in the future, or maybe never, depending on the direction that this site takes as it grows.

I’ll go next… My name is Eusebio and I have have been buying Waves plugins, bundles and upgrades for a long time until I got to full Mercury, Abbey Road and more
AA references aside, Waves makes some plugins that I just use over and over again: Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter, Puigchild, CLA Guitars and CLA Bass, CLA Nx, Manny Marroquin Reverb, the Greg Wells series, NS1 (yes, I know that confessing to using “one knob” plugins doesn’t sound good but it has proven useful many times)
You can click Update and just patch your current version but, they have the similarly named “Update to v15” that will do what you don’t want. It is annoying, always having to think and be careful about not clicking the wrong one

1December 2, 2024 at 9:27 am in reply to: What Black Friday Deals Did You Pick Up? What are You Thinking About/Hoping for? #1000020607Here is my list
- VPS Avenger 2
- Tone2 RayBlaster 2
- SPC ArcSyn
- SubLab XL & packs
- Imaginando FRMS & DRC
- Magix soundpools (various)
- ArrangerKing
- Modalics bundle (Beat Scholar, EonARP, bitfuzzer)
- Zynaptiq Unveil
- LANDR Super Bundle
- DDMF Superplugin & Bridgewize
- Lumina Delay
- Moogerfoogers 101 & 105
- Imperial Delay
- Xils-Lab Le Masque (and Ramses, by mistake, now at Linkedmusicians Buy&Sell forum)
- MIA Labs bundle (Super Fat, Super Muscle, super Thin)
- Pro Tools Support Plan
- RapidComposer upgrade (3 to 4)
- Kilohearts upgrade (add Filter Table & Shaper Table)
- AAS sound pack upgrade (add all missing packs)
It’s more than I should. I still get GAS-FOMO (buy when cheap because I’ll regret it later if I don’t). Looking at quantity, 50% of the list are impulse buys that I hadn’t considered before this BF. However, looking at actual dollars, big ticket items like the Pro Tools plan, Avenger, Unveil and others were either fully planned or plugins that I’ve been keeping an eye on for months (or years) and I’ve been waiting until the price was right. The impulse purchases are less than 20% of spending.

3November 30, 2024 at 1:40 am in reply to: Chicken Systems Thanksgiving Weekend – 50% off most software & some crossgrades #1000020526I got Translator last year. It has significant limitations (e.g., it cannot convert from formats like newer Kontakt, newer IK, etc, and it cannot create single-file ufs for Falcon, it only does the older format with a folder full of uvip files), but it can do things potentially quite useful, like converting a sf2 into programs for Falcon; Or, if you have instruments for older Kontakt versions like Sampletekk Small Studio Grand, or older IK Libraries like Miroslav Philharmonic 1, it can convert those too.
I’d definitely recommend trying out the demo first and making sure it will be able to handle the libraries/instruments that you want to work with

1They have a great set of good quality courses. I have ask.audio and groove3. There is some overlap but enough differences to make it worth having both.
Ask.video (this deal) is actually ask.audio plus more. This is their story (as reported in https://happycomposer.com/review-ask-audio/)
“When we started to create video tutorials in 2005, our focus was Pro Mac software (Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, DVD Studio Pro, etc.). As our tutorial library kept growing, we started to produce tutorials that were not specific to Mac users (Cubase, Reason, Photoshop, etc.). To make our site more “Windows” friendly, we decided to also use the “AskVideo” branding. So Ask.Video and macProVideo.com are the full deal. They offer exactly the same audio, video, graphics, and productivity tutorials. If you subscribe to macProVideo.com, you can log in at Ask.Video, and vice versa. Our sister website Ask.Audio was created to give our customers an “audio-only” alternative. It offers the same audio courses as macProVideo and Ask.Video, but it doesn’t include tutorials in other categories (e.g., video, graphics, productivity, web, etc.).”
I signed up for ask.audio in a past Black Friday and the price wasn’t just a “first year promotion and then goes to full price”, they have been applying the same promotional price for renewals.
Thank you for the deal. I’m signing up for ask.video and cancelling my ask.audio subscription.

2My guess is that it’s going to be the usual “reseller ecosystem”.
For me, “something different” would mean major discounts on “upper tier” plugins like an 80% off Serum or Omnisphere (which I highly doubt we’ll see that), or on the “lower tier” a new indie developer (which doesn’t sound too thrilling, the plugin market is already pretty saturated)

Also, if you’re getting multiple plugins, I’d suggest getting Xils plugins from dontcrack.com and take advantage of the “buy more pay less” discount (other stores often exclude Xils-Labs products from additional codes or discounts)

Many of these freebies will end up on P2P resale sites for $10 or less anyway. If interested in more than one, it may be better choosing the lesser known ones. People who think about resales will pick the most popular.
