Yeah, my point was that country, classical, jazz, rap, hiphop, etc. are not Rock’n’Roll and a lot of true rock artists and acts that belong there are overlooked…my meaning of social engineering is that Jann Wenner has basically destroyed the notion of Rock’n’Roll and just puts in groups he likes.

March 10, 2026 at 11:22 am in reply to: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2026 Nominees are Up for Voting. What Do You Think? #1000044654What I mean is taking an established norm and twisting it in order to appease, thus removing all meaning. For instance Dolly Parton has nothing to do with Rock’n’Roll and ELP do in a very big way, but Jann Wenner has stated ELP will never be in the RnRHOF! I like Dolly Parton and think she is trully a wonderful person but the whole idea is ludicrous. Sade?? Wu-tang Clan?? Luthur Vandross?????? Go through the inductees list at the website and see all the people and groups that don’t belong there!

Bundle on Sale for $149 (reg. $399)at AD #1000043691I own the ISP3 bundle and am confused by the “updates are free” ethos they employ. For instance when I purchased the bundle(many moons ago 😉 ) 80’s Spaces was not included with the bundle but now it shows as included? I’m wondering if I can just install it with my ISP3 license.

February 19, 2026 at 12:37 pm in reply to: If You Could Reunite Any Band for One Show What Band Would That Be? #1000043578I work both ways…I start parallel because I’m always writing but once I get particular pieces I have an affinity for I try to get them to the “ready to mix” stage. I just did that a couple of days ago, I spent all day getting 3 pieces from coming along to finished writing and recording. It helps that I’m always album-centric so the pieces I got ready are going to be on the next album.
I’ve also started splitting up larger pieces into smaller projects to make the process easier 🙂 At the end I’ll mix everything non-stop whether it’s a day, a week, or a month of work I try to do all mixing at the same time period to get the same “sound” 🙂
Parallel work allows you to avoid burnout and reaching that “Oops, I messed that one up” point 😉

To be honest I have a Presonus Quantum 2626 TB interface and it works great! With that said the name Presonus in no way conjures up music making to me, just electronic devices, while Fender says music making(albeit with a heavy guitar emphasis 😉 ).

3December 29, 2025 at 7:48 pm in reply to: ⚡ Cakewalk Sonar Boxing Day Special $67 Promo Rate; $179 Renewals #1000041478I have some old Sonar projects kicking around so I installed Sonar Platinum and then the free version of Bandlab’s Sonar. Most of my stuff was done in Platinum so no biggie but….I found I’m constantly writing new material in Nuendo that is superior to the older Platinum material…I haven’t brought many old projects forward…a lot I’m gonna let die 🙂
I suggest you look into Cubase or Studio One going forward, either program is a definite step up from Sonar and they sell permanent licenses…you don’t need to feed the meter to keep the program running 😉 I bought an update for Nuendo for half price during the holiday sale- 99.99…if I was continuing with Cubase it would have been more like 49.99 or so.

2I turned on the DAW machine earlier to run updates…I had nothing from Arturia…updated assorted and shutdown. Came back to surf on the laptop and saw Pigments had an update? Then checked email on my phone and Arturia sent an email about my free update…where were you earlier? 😉

Went to see ELO open for Kansas and during part of the Kansas show I went outside to the bar…wound up buying a beer for the singer for ELO 🙂

21December 14, 2025 at 12:34 pm in reply to: Distribution – what are your thoughts, experiences with Distrokid? #1000040616Personally I use CDBaby. You pay for the release once and any monies to be paid out are paid quarterly…for the rest of your life! 🙂 I’ve released 3 albums with them and with absolutely no marketing on my part I get about 100.00 a quarter…last quarter my BMI payment was 100.00 as well. For not pushing my music much that’s pretty good!
I’ve heard good things about DistroKid but it’s an annual subscription and that makes me wary, the last album release cost about 40 or 50 bucks and I’ll make that back quick 🙂 And keep making music without having to pay again…and again…and again 😉
If you’re serious about releasing material make sure you sign up for a PRO(Performing Rights Organization) and use that with whoever you release with! I’m retired now so I’ll be spending some thought and time on marketing with my next release 🙂

2“VST 2 is not officially supported. VST 2 plug-ins may be loaded (excluding on Native Apple Silicon) when the VST 2 plug-in scanner is enabled in the VST Plug-in Manager. However, Steinberg does not provide support for any issues related to VST 2.”

1October 23, 2025 at 12:22 am in reply to: BFD / BFD Player Expansion Packs Up to 78% off, Starting at $9 #1000036641I’ve been a BFD user for years and have never had trouble. To be fair I held off on moving from FXPansion to InMusic for quite a while so I probably skipped any issues during the change of ownership. I just picked up Marching Drums for $14….actually for about .34, I had some credit left at PB 😉
The only time I use something other than BFD is for special circumstances, for instance using 8Dio The New Toms Ensemble. I’m happy with the sound and the adjustments you can make in the Mixer. I prefer BFD2’s interface though, I’m not big on cartoony unicorn GUI’s 😉 I do have both installed and use BFD2 from time to time. I also have Addictive Drums, EZ Drummer, etc. but they don’t get any use!

2October 11, 2025 at 10:16 am in reply to: Rhino Reverb – A Vintage HiFi Reverb amp, with a wild twist – Free for limited #1000036104One thing to remember is that you do not need to upgrade, you upgrade because you want to 🙂 You can run most any perpetual licensed app for 5 years and it’ll still do what it did when you bought it! I use Nuendo by Steinberg for my DAW….upgrades are generally $199 but there are periodic sales at 40-50% off. One nice thing about Steinberg, buy an app and you can run any version up to the one you are currently running(barring license activation changes). Right now a new user for Nuendo would purchase 14 but have access to 12 and 13 as well. If you originally purchased 11 or older, which was on the eLicenser, you can go back to the first version! The new licensing activation started with Nuendo 12.

3August 20, 2025 at 8:02 am in reply to: Harrison 3D Delay is available to download for FREE -Harrison store #1000033367August 19, 2025 at 6:51 pm in reply to: What are your thoughts on AI in the music creative process? Is it good or bad? #1000033320I have no use for AI in music, I’m able to do everything I want to do, I play guitar, keys, and drums…I mix my own material, etc….and sometimes a little south of perfect sounds more human 🙂 I don’t see the difference between people using loops and AI, either way YOU are not creating, just processing someone elses work! Using AI during processing I’m more open to…it’s just not for me.
But to be a complete hypocrite I do use AI in art…I have some 2d and 3d skills but AI is just a faster way to get something almost finished 🙂 I used to use Maya but have been trying to make the switch to Blender and I’ve had Photoshop for ages!

1August 12, 2025 at 11:00 am in reply to: [not a deal] CbB no longer support activation after August 1 #1000033043I used Sonar for years starting with Sonar 8!
Somewhere around Sonar Platinum the program would forget my interface every time I opened it and I would have to reload it…I was on an Echo Layla3G so not a USB interface but I think they made changes under the hood for people having trouble USB interfaces and it negatively affected mine. Moved on to CbB but saw the writing on the wall and started testing…first up was Samplitude Pro X4 Suite! Samplitude is a powerful program and blows CbB out of the water as it’s set up for more a professional use…but it was very awkward to use 😉 I bided my time and a good crossgrade sale to Cubase came up and I decided to check it out. I had use Cubase years ago and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use again. Everything is straightforward and well engineered. I switched 100%! Soon after a sale came up with a crossgrade to Nuendo and I jumped on it!
Now I own Cubase Pro, Nuendo, Halion, Wavelab Pro, and Dorico Pro 🙂 Looking back I enjoyed my Sonar years but I would never go back, it’s nice to use software made by a manufacturer who is all about music whether a DAW, notation, synths, etc.
It always bothered me that Cakewalk never tried to appeal to serious musicians and studios, it always felt like a very good hobbyist program.

Samplitude blows it out of the water as far as capability goes but it was just awkward to use. Soon after a cheap crossgrade to Cubase came up and I started using that and took no time at all to get acclimated. A year or so after that I went all in and went to Nuendo. Now I’m running Nuendo, Wavelab, Halion, and Dorico…guess I’m all in with Steinberg 😉 I have a Presonus Studio One something or other that came with my interface that I never opened as well as Digital Performer Lite that came with a MIDI interface…also Mixbus and LUNA but Nuendo hits the spot for me 🙂
